Varnishing

Applying thin (most often colorless) varnish layer, is calledvarnishing. Very often UV varnishes are used for applying this coating (it is called UV, because ultraviolet light is used to dry it). The varnish is applied mainly, through the use of 2 type of printing technology: Flexo stamp and sieve stamp. Depending on the place of application of the varnish, it is divided into: complete varnishing or partial (separated) varnishing. In the case of partial varnishing, the varnish is applied in selected areas to emphasize design elements or a certain unpainted field is left. (for example, to print variable information) According to the thickness of the applied varnish, it can be categorized as: Normal (small height of the applied varnish), Embossed (average height of the applied varnish) and Tactilen or Brailov (high height of the applied varnish). In some cases, it is appropriate to use embossed or tactile varnish as a substitute for dry embossing. From the type of varnish used derive 2 main categories: Matt and Glanz. There are also varnishes with special effects such as: Pearl varnish (gives a pearly effect), Glitter varnish (contains metallized particles of different colors), |Security (contains particles invisible to ordinary light) etc. In addition to the aesthetic impact (improves the appearance of the product), The main function of the overprint varnish is to preserve the applied colors for a longer period of time, including. when exposing the label to adverse environmental conditions. UV varnish protects the label from mechanical damage.
